1) I do not have a Firearm Certificate - Can I join WRPC ?

Yes. You would join as a Probationary Member in order to comply with Home Office requirements.

2) How can I obtain an application form ?


It can be forwarded as an attachment to an email, sent by post or you can collect one from the range at a weekend.

3) Will I receive training in the use of, and the safe handling of firearms if I join as a Probationary Member ?


Yes. You would be required to regularly attend ten number training sessions over a period of three months.

4) How much will it cost me to complete the training course ?


Approximately £100 to £130. This is in addition to the cost of membership and is to cover the cost of the range fees, ammunition, targets and the use of suitable firearms.

5) Once I have completed the Probationers Course will I be able to apply for my own Firearm Certificate ?


Yes. You will receive help and advice with the completion of your application to your local Police Authority, including the types/calibers of firearms you wish to own and which are most suitable for your chosen disciplines.

6) I have a firearm certificate, but I have been shooting on land.Can I join WRPC and will I have to complete the three month Probationers Course ?

Yes you can join WRPC and no you may not have to complete the Probationers course. WRPC Officials can, at their discretion, decide to offer you full membership, once you have been assessed by one of our Qualified Training Instructors. You may be required to attend one or a number of sessions, at the Instructors discretion.

7) I am interested in ‘trying target shooting’. Can I come to the range and try/hire a gun to see if I like it before I decide whether to join ?


A member of the ‘general public’, without a firearm certificate, can only handle and use firearms at the range if he/she is personally known and invited by a full club member and is accompanied and supervised by that member at one of the clubs official ‘Open Days’ which have been approved in advance by the Warwickshire Police Authority.

8) I/my son/daughter would like to shoot air rifle/pistol at Wedgnock. Can I/he/she join as an air only member ?

Yes. There is a dedicated ‘air only section on the 25m range, but it must be remembered that currently the law prevents any person under the age of seventeen transporting an air pistol to the range. This does not prevent young persons from shooting at the range but PLEASE CHECK THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS REGARDING AIR WEAPONS AND YOUNG PEOPLE.
