   - types of shooting

A wide range of different target shooting disciplines are done Wedgnock Rifle and Pistol Club - On any given day you can see everything from a .22 bolt action rifle, to a Brown Bess musket, to a carbon-fibre long barrelled semi-automatic pistol. The different disciplines range from prone precision .22 target rifle, to cowboy action 3 gun timed competitions, to turning target rabbit shoot (only paper rabbits !).

Rifle

A large number of different rifles are used at the club such as .22 target rifles, Gallery rifle shooting (.22 semi-automatic and pistol calibre lever action), historical rifles such as blackpowder 45/70 Buffalo rifles, and service rifles such as the modern AR15 straight pull or Martini Henry rifles from the days of Empire.

cowboy action

Cowboy Action shooting has recently been introduced to the club and is increasingly popular. This is typically shot on a 25 meter range with a timed course of fire using black powder revolvers, lever action rifles, and shotguns.


precision rifle

The Club also has a dedicated .22 Precision group who enter teams in NSRA Competitions each year.

air rifle

The 25m range had a dedicated air section with a range of knock-down targets. Air rifles are also welcome on the 50m and  100m range.

air pistol

The club has a 10 meter air pistol range in the Pavillion club house which is used on Wednesday evenings.
